Hi , it’s not often you pop into a charity shop and buy a couple of bell Bowl, drawn stem with tears from 1740ish for £1.50 each !?,..and this might not be one of them??.They are 6.5” in height with folded feet and broken pontils, there are a few small air bubbles and you can feel wear along the edge of the foot.There is no black grime in any of the nooks and crannies.They are quite substantial with all the tooling marks you might expect.Although the stem and the bowl are the same piece of glass the bowls look a tiny bit older for some odd reason ?What do you think

Maybe a trumpet bowl, which seems a bit unusual ?

yes, I was about to suggest more like a trumpet bowl, with a drawn stem, or as they say a drawn trumpet. I would have thought it highly unlikely these are c. 1740 - not based on what we can see, but more by the law of averages I suppose, but anything is possible. Are these lead glass - have you flicked yet. ;D If you're right then you've a good investment, if you're wrong then at worst you've lost three quid .............. can't really fail. ;)

They seem ping resistant because of the thickness or shape ?sort of short high pitched. Next to a more modern glass they do have a greyer tone .
