Title: Jobling opalique butterfly/moth
Post by: oyemicanto on February 10, 2022, 07:03:01 PM
Hello all
Bought this lovely Jobling opalique novelty last week...first time I have seen one in the flesh.I have had most of the opalique figures over the years (sold on or swapped) but this is a first for me.

A fantastic find. I can only recall seeing one offered for sale in the past several years. There’s also a nice example in the Sunderland museum display. It seems this pattern is very scarce. I imagine quite a few might have got damaged over the years too with those prominent wings sticking up.

Hi Stephen
Yes I wondered if they had suffered from coming out of the moulds with broken wings.
This and the seahorse are the only ones I had never seen in the flesh...the seahorse I have yet to find.
