Title: Three Unusual Strathearn Paperweights
Post by: daveweight on February 16, 2022, 07:32:06 PM
I thought I would share this picture of three unusual Strathearn paperweights in my collection and tell you something about them
At the top we have the STRATHEARN GLASS paperweight, this was made by Jack Allen assisted by Dave Moir not long after the factory opened. In the 1960's and early 70's Strathearn Glass used to attend glass fairs and displayed their products, this weight was used as a centrepiece for these displays.
I believe it was  in 1978 Strathearn designed a range of new paperweights and several prototypes of these were made but none of these new weights actually went into production. Two of these designs are shown the Concentric on a blue base and the Flower Form - note the complex Vasart canes in the centre.

Thank-you for the images and the info. It's lovely to have this on record here. 8)

Thanks Sue - it is a shame it is not recorded how many new designs there were or how many copies of each were made but I have seen a very nice closepack
