Title: Small glass bowl with 'lump'?! ID Help
Post by: Louise88 on February 19, 2022, 11:33:35 PM
Hi there

I'm hoping to find out who made this piece?

Small glass bowl with a glass 'lump' on the inner base.

No signature.

Thanks!

The colour and shape makes me think of one of the Scandinavian factories, Stromberg maybe ? ;D

Not Holmegaard - they polished the bases.  Stromberg is possible - but I would expect the base to be polished also.  I agree the blue colour is typical of Swedish makers in particular.  I am wondering if it was decided that it was a second and was thus not finished - although I can't imagine why they would not have recycled it in that case.

Ross I think the base is polished but has a lot of wear on it?

It's smooth but frosted. I'm not sure whether that would count as polished? Thanks!

ah no, polished would be shiny and transparent.
My eyes, I thought it was just base wear.  Apologies.

When enlarged, it looks like heavy matted base wear, over a polished base, to my eyes.

It would be really helpful if you posted individual pictures rather than a collage so we can enlarge them properly

Apologies, struggled to get them under 125kb. Thanks

Excellent pictures.  The base is not polished but shows signs of significant wear.  The bulge in the centre is unusual and looks deliberate - but I can't fathom why it is there.
Sorry I am not being more help - but I am somewhat stumped at present.
