Title: Lovely Studio Glass Vase - Need help on Signature ?
Post by: Novasonic on March 12, 2022, 08:49:24 AM
Hello there,

I have recently picked up this lovely blue studio glass vase on a pedestal foot - lovely blue swirls with orange and yellow spots.  very heavy.  Snapped pontil mark.  I can't decipher the signature though !
It's 14cm high x 10.5cm diameter.

Any help much appreciated on this one !

Many Thanks

Rob

I’ll have a go :) The stripes that twist towards the top look a bit like Anthony Stern but the signature looks nowhere near. Might William Walker be a possibility? It’s hard to see the signature properly, you might be able to load a larger image if you crop the image to just show the bowl.

Hello - I agree looks similar to both but the signature looks very different to both too.   Here is the signature zoomed in.

Thanks

These hand engraved signatures can be a nightmare as letters can be numbers and vice versa. Looking at the signature, the last 5 digits look like neill. Before the 'n' is the long stroke. Before the stroke is what looks like a 'w' but, the last bit of the w could be an 'o' and the stroke an apostrophe giving o'neill. The first digit could be a 6 or a capital G. If it is a 6 the w could be a 1 and an o and the long stroke could be a slash with neill being the name. I reverse imaged the signature but all I got was pictures of ship wrecks on the sea bed with the ships name, obviously faded. Good luck with it.
