Hi
Can someone help with this signature please
-
Hi welcome to the board :)
Please could you post a picture of the full item as this sometimes help jog memories on signatures/maker.
Thank you.

I'm having trouble loading the photos

Thank you.
It looks to me as though the first name is Phil, but hopefully someone will be along who recognises the full name and the piece, to help you further :)

Thank you anyway, half way there 8)

I think it is Phil Atrill, it looks like the one in his distortion range here - if it is, it says it's a one off bowl... http://www.philatrill.com/categories/1/galleries/3/images/28

Hi Anne
Thank you very much, that's it 😊
-
:) I thought I recognised the work. Agreed on Phil Atrill.
All his "Distortion" pieces are one-offs, they are the higher end of his oevre.
He trained with Bob Crookes.
This is an early Distortion vase, from 2005.

That's a great result. It's a beautiful piece :)

Thank you Sue , it's a cracking bowl , very heavy ;)
-
You may notice mine is on the ground, with soft stuff under it. It's very heavy indeed. ;D
These pieces cast really great complex shadows.

Hi Sue
If you remember my wife sold you the Zigzag vase
-
I didn't realise this was you, Ian, sorry! My excuse is I was caught up with the glass. ;D
I've been a bit of a fan of Phil Atrill's work for a while.
He was exhibited in the Strathearn Gallery in Crieff. A wonderful place which has always supported art glass.
Info about him and more glass illustrated on their website, here.

Hi Sue
Yes sorry I should of said ;D, tried logging in with Terri's but gave up
We picked it up at auction, they didn't even list it as signed !!
Such a lovely thing we had to have it :)
-
Me again Sue
Am I allowed to ask ......
Does his work command large prices? And is it an early work of his ?
Kind regards
Ian

As I said earlier, his Distortion pieces are one-offs and the high end of his work. They are rather expensive.
But I've only ever bought his work new, in Crieff. I don't know anything about the secondary market.
The bowls are newer than the massive vase I have, but I do know that is fairly early. I did just go and check it - no date is written beside the sig, but I have dug in my folder and found the reciept for it. It was bought in 2004.
If you look at the link to his work in the Strathearn Gallery and click on a piece, the price new, will come up with the enlargement. Or you could contact him at his website and ask for the price of a distortion bowl.

Thanks Sue again
