Hi , I’m wondering if this is early pressed glass ?it has also been cut on the rim and foot and joined together with a cushion knop with suspended bubbles, there is a lot of mossy wear , it’s heavy for it’s size. Thanks

Could it be cut glass? Looks chunky, could be a late Georgian cut glass Sweetmeat?
-
Ahhhh, I see what you mean having had a quick look around .it is heavy and the metal is good quality.
Many thanks !, I’ll look deeper 👍

The cut rim maybe an Anglo Irish characteristic, Early 19th century?

I’m afraid I know very little about Georgian cut glass ,this is the closest so far that I’ve come across described as a air beaded knop bonnet glass 1780 ??from an antique glass site .

Yes I think that sounds about right a bonnet or montieth glass it’s probably slightly taller than your sweetmeat with a double ogee bowl (I think that’s the right phrase?) Similar cut rim pattern. Your sweetmeat doesn’t have the same bowl shape.check out Google images for “bonnet and monteith glass” and then go to scottishantiques.com and explore their sold pages.

If this is an image from another website we will need to remove it as it will be under someone else's copyright, and its use here breaches the board's copyright policy, sorry!
