Hello all you wonderful people at Glass Messages
Here is my latest find - could anyone identify this ashtray (now known as a pin tray) Could it possibly be a Whitfriars piece by William Wilson? Sapphire blue glass with controlled air bubbles - with two indented lipped cigarette rests.
Measuring approx 13cms widest point x 4cms high. The base seems to of been ground and polished flat so no pontil mark.
Please view photographs attached. I have seen many similar attributed to Whitefriars but also seen many that look the same but are attributed to swedish or italian makers. So now I am confused. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for all your wonderful knowledge.
With best regards

My guess would be Italian but many companies made similar. Not Whitefriars, their output is well documented.

I would agree with John. It's not a Whitefriars' design. The colour isn't quite right either. Italian is as good a guess as any.

Thank you John and Ian for your replies.
I will check out some of the Murano glassworks and see what I can come up with.

I guess I have to start my search with Bullicante instead of controlled bubbles now that I've been directed towards Italy.
Thanks for your pointers.
