A fb friend inherited this and is curious to know it's history, maker etc.

Just reply to your previous post rather than starting a new thread. English and possibly Webb I suspect. A base shot of the glass, a shot of the whole thing including handles and one of just the glass would be helpful. It's probably a preserve or pickle dish rather than a vase.

The glass doesn't seem to fit the holder properly. There seems to be a gap underneath and too much around the edges. I would expect a closer fit if they had been made as a single item. My guess is that the glass doesn't belong in the metalwork. But yes, more photos would help.

Christine that's interesting. I've always wondered about these when I've seen them (not often, is there one in Gulliver's perhaps?) and tended to idly muse that they were possibly S&W because Steuben made a similar ish item called Grotesque but out-turned slightly rim:

Now you've mentioned Webb though I think that feels more a possibility.
Ian it looks slightly iridescent or satin glass - is it?

"Ian it looks slightly iridescent or satin glass - is it?"
That question should be directed to Chrissyd1. I was merely commenting that the glass doesn't belong in the metalwork. :)

These were found in local charity shops around where I live in Stourbridge. My guess is the same maker. Nice lead glass. They are totally different to the more free blown versions, more moulded.
