A rare orange / red Loetz octopus large glass bowl. Embellished with gilding.
A white interior which is uranium.
Marked on the base PAT 9159
Diameter 9"
Height 4.75" and weighs 1229gm

It was bought this afternoon from a local antique centre to me and they did not have a clue that it was Loetz.

Knowledge can be a wonderful thing. I would have been buzzing after such a purchase, with my previous reply I thought about stating how green with envy etc, etc, but decided not too. Keeping that for this reply!

When I saw the price tag which was £28, I paid £25, and made a quick getaway.

This came up for auction about 4 years ago, looks more like a bowl shape than a vase.

The estimate for the bowl was 200/ $300 but it sold for $2,000 or £1,620.
The blue octopus vase had an estimate of 800 to $1,200 actually sold for $9,000 or over £7,000.

Example in the Corning in brown. Your bowl is a much more beautiful colour :)
