Title: Threaded bowl.
Post by: keith on July 05, 2022, 05:48:26 PM
There have been a number of these on the board but I can't remember if they were ever given a solid attribution  ;D 5.5 inches across, 2.25 tall.

Sticking my neck out, I think this is a marmalade from the shape and should perhaps have a metal basket; when I see pink machine threading like that, I think of S&W first.
I wait to be shot down. ;)

They do usually come with a metal base, I was thinking Stuart but I'd be happy with S&W's  ;D

I'm never convinced by the S&W attribution for so much threading...

I will dump my previously held suspicions immediately.  ;D
I think I have been hanging on to them for a very, very long time. :-[

Iiiii think ... a larger version with a kind of lattice type mold (optical)pattern on it, turned out to be Stuart.  Bernard said he'd a tazza and had shown it to M . Gulliver (iirc - open to correction on this memory) and had in turn been shown the pattern in the Stuart pattern books.
It's somewhere on the board and I commented on it recently as some items in a museum in the States had been wrongly labelled with S&W I think.

I think ...

So I've always though these were Stuart.

This is all from memory though as haven't gone and looked up the Stuart reference from Bernard - it's annotated in one of my glass reference books somewhere (maybe in Gulliver? Victorian Glass)

Ok, here's the Stuart bowl thread:

Mind you on reading another thread I put on here about my threaded peacock eye Stuart preserves, I commented that I have a little preserve like Keith's and that it was much lighter weight than the threaded Stuart peacock preserve bowl. A different quality somehow.  I remember that bowl now, think I might have broken it by accident though.
