Post by: VintageMissy on August 02, 2022, 10:39:07 AM
Good morning fellow glass lovers

Can anyone help me identify this pretty Art Glass Swirl please. It measures 10 inches tall and has a clear base

Many thanks

:) I believe these are contemporary Chinese glass.  Sometimes they are not, but the Chinese ones always have square bases. It looks glued onto the base, rather than hot welded.

If you find a new one for sale, as I did in NZ, read the blurb carefully.  It said "Designed in NZ, Made in China".

My thought is that the rqre item made like this in Europe do not have clear bases - often dark or even black.  Until you can prove otherwise I suggest simply declining it.  That is not to say that some are stunningly nice - they are.  But to infer they aremade elsewhere is fraud in my mind.
