Title: Identification of Liqueur / Cordial Glass
Post by: Dubarry on October 05, 2022, 11:13:48 AM
Greetings from Downunder Australia.

I've had these glasses for many years (nine of them), and have had no luck in identifying the maker.  They are not marked, but have an amazing chime and beautiful facet cutting on the stems.  Thoughts were originally Whitefriars but the available catalogues do not help.  Can anyone help with the identification of them?  Height 3.4"  Rim diameter 1.7"

Many thanks
Barry

The cut looks a little reminiscent of Webb to me.

Hi John, thanks for your response and interest in my problem!

I have looked at Webb and I have found that they all seem to be marked.  After your email I tried "Replacements" and another general "Google" search from which I came up empty handed.  My thought with Whitefriars is they are not usually marked but there are only a few catalogues to search (on the Whitefriars site) which I have looked into and drawn a blank.

Thanks again for your interest and I will continue my search!

Kind regards
Barry

The cutting on the stem looks interesting. I don’t know if that style of cutting has a name but it looks at first glance like a stem faceted with diamonds or hexagons, like this one with hexagons: https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,71475.msg398042.html#msg398042

The cutting on your stem is more simple in comparison to those, maybe it was done as a less expensive way to get similar results? Probably doesn’t help much….good luck :)

Thanks Ekimp.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

The stems are actually square and each panel has a facet cut out of it, giving it an unusual appearance.

Many thanks for your interest.
