Title: Joseph Webb? Edward Moore? Candlestick.

This candlestick is shown on P7 in the Edward Moore supplement to the Pottery Gazette of 1/12/1888. It illustrates pieces which would be produced from moulds recently purchased from Joseph Webb. Shown here on Mike Tomlin's site.

Page 1 of the supplement shows a letter from Edward Moore dated October 1888 explaining this. The No. is 4725 in 5", 6" or 7", mine is actually 5 3/8". The only difference mine has is a shallower moulding below the sconce to the one shown. From the colour I think it is from the1860's to 1890's so could be Webb or Moore. The moulds were sold on to various companies in the 1910's but I don't think it's that late.

A lovely pair to go with it, these are the 7" version, actually 7 1/2", with 4 1/2" base. A pity no lozenge or RD number. The density of the small one is around 2.9gms/cm3.

Mine is also 5 3/8 in.
