Title: Glass mark - cursive R in a shield with 3-pointed crown on top
Post by: chilternhills on November 10, 2022, 09:55:26 PM
Does anyone recognise this glass mark? The cursive R in a shield with a crown on top seems rather old-fashioned and I wondered if it was an old company recently getting into studio glass. But no luck. It's not in Hartmann's Glasmarken Lexikon.

The design of the vase is unusual. I can't recall seeing that gold-coloured spiral strapping, combined with a deep red ground colour, and the blue iridescent colour on top. Inside the vase there is a thin layer of the golden-coloured glass. The vase is 17 cm high and 7.5 cm diameter at the rim.

Any suggestions are gratefully received.

Anton

Could it be Rosenthal?

That's a good suggestion! The cursive R in particular is similar to other Rosenthal marks. I wasn't aware of the Rosenthal Studio Linie (studio line) until today. There isn't much on the web to compare my vase with. The strange golden yellow strapping is similar to the colour of the rim of another Rosenthal vase I found. And the deep red base colour seems to one used by Rosenthal.

Rosenthal Studio Linie seems to date from the 1970s and 1980s. I would love to find out more since Rosenthal had some big names design for them, like Nanny Still. These designs use strikingly bright colours.

Did you ever 100% confirm the brand of vase you found? I found something similar today with the same makers mark on the bottom yet I still have no idea what it is and can’t confirm it’s rosenthal based on little information I see online.

To be honest, I haven't revisited this query since I originally asked 2 years ago.

I think it may be Poschinger.

I was wondering if any of you have had any luck? The original poster has the same mark as mine. It's a beautiful abstract art glass figure that is 14 inches tall, made of clear and amethyst glass. In addition to a Shield Mark, it is signed on the bottom with the date 11/04/2006. Thank you for any help—it's driving me mad looking!  ;D

Looking through the list of glass artists at the top of the Glass page here I found the name Mariusz Rynkiewicz, a Polish artist. This piece has his signature and mark.

Also a biography here:

There are some other posts about him on here.
