Title: Mould blown tumbler with enamel flowers and martele like pattern
Post by: glassobsessed on November 21, 2022, 04:52:39 PM
Curious about this tumbler mostly because it is outside my usual interest, maybe not so surprising in those circumstances but I don't remember seeing any others.

The tumbler is fairly thin walled and the pattern is quite crisp and prominent, 10cm or 4" tall, the rim has lost nearly all the enamel and the yellow flowers are pretty worn, cold painted? Could the leaves and flowers be hop? The general texture is reminiscent of several Bohemian makers Martele patterns.

I'd say they definitely look like hops. Perhaps hence the colour enamel as well?  The shape of the leaves and the flower are good.

So  a beer glass?  Perhaps it came with an ale jug?  Unusual and interesting.

Just thought of something - didn't Keith have a piece of glass that was martele pattern but pressed?

It might be on the board somewhere.

Yes a beer glass would fit very nicely with hops, it is a pretty small measure by today's standards.  A jug to match would be fabby, there is barely any wear on the base of the glass in contrast to the enamel.
