Hi. Hope someone can help with this jug. Found in the North of England it measures 4.75 inches (12.5 cm) tall x 5 inches (13 cm) across and weighs 460 gms. Lead Crystal (lovely ring when tapped) with a ground out polished pontil. I have seen a very very similar jug on some searches on the web that says it is 1930's Whitefriars wave ribbed design, but I have looked at a 1931 catalogue (again on the web) but although there are wave ribbed vases (which have an incredibly similar design) there is no mention of a jug. Can anyone help or point me in a new direction. Many thanks

Webb might be another direction to try?
There is a series of water sets with this swag decor attributed to them, but I haven't seen this precise shape of jug before. Or this colour. I haven't seen a marked one either. ::)
I suspect they are all a bit of an unknown

I wasn't sure if it was ribonette, under "decanters" there are also "moire" and "cascade" patterns.

I've done some searches on Webb Ribonette and although I can only find examples of tankards, the style of the handles on these look very similar to the handle on this jug. Did Webb do ground out polished pontils? I really don't know their work.

I think Ribbonette is most like it, Nev. :) It is certainly the most commonly found.
The others look a bit more subtle. Moire seems to go more sideways and Cascade almost looks like downward pointing heart shapes. It really does look as if they are pointing down.
Yes, Webb did polished, round, ground out, pontil marks, Seanduxbury. :)

Seems we're not really any further forward. The discussion there is very similar to this one - inconclusive.
I think Webb is more likely than wfs, simply on the grounds of the colours used. I have seen a lot of the water sets over the years, they are not scarce, but I've never seen any that are marked. ::)

I've spent hours searching Webb & Whitefriars wave ribbed (and multiple variations of wave and ribbed) but with no success, so I think I need to call it a day. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll be keeping hold of it as a 'research piece' - you never know at some point in the future I may find something similar with a label :)

Devil's Advocate here - A N Other maker anyone? Czech production was prolific and plenty was imported.
