Title: Pressed double salt with serpent or dolphin handles
Post by: neilh on January 28, 2023, 04:25:14 PM
Wonder if anybody has seen this before or can attribute it.
It is a double salt with a dull sheen and low density of 2.43g/cc, pointing to post 1880 northeast
The point of interest are the handles, serpent, snake, dolphin, I'm not quite sure.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't be absolutely sure it's English, perhaps French/continental, the handle would usually be called dolphin or dolphin-fish.

You could be right, it came in a job lot of pieces, a mix of French, German, northwest and northeast England, several of which I can't identify.
