Title: Replica Forest Glass or Waldglas identification
Post by: artsdufeu on January 30, 2023, 10:46:23 AM
I wonder whether anyone is able to help with the identification of an engraved monogram on a group of replica forest glass vessels and a vase in the style of Whitefriars. They come from two unrelated British collections but all four pieces have the same engraved monogram on the underside - looks like it could be LTO or something similar (almost certainly L and T, the third letter could be O, C, U or perhaps not a letter at all. Two have been in the same collection since before 1998 so they will have been made over 25 years ago. I understand there were (and still are) a number of makers producing replicas like this. The obvious suspects would be Mark Taylor & David Hill (who usually sign with a full name and date), Graydon Stannus (who usually marked 'Gray Stan'), or possibly Whitefriars as they have similarities to some Powell pieces. There was a suggestion that they may be Tiffany as the initials resemble LCT - but I don't think they are. Perhaps someone here recognises the mark?

Sorry I can't help with your glass signature but there are many links here to makers of replicas - hopefully some of the links will still be active.

Also if you search this site for Replica museum, then hopefully more threads will come up that might help.
