Hello Glass Lovers
Here is my final purchase of the week but I'm going boot fair shopping tomorrow to find some more wonderful glass, so watch this space.
This is a very tall cased glass vase that i can not find even a near miss in my searches - Most probably quite recent in making? And I have a feeling China in manufacture - but that is just a guess.
This elegant piece is 17.1/2 inches - 44.5cms tall and 5.1/2 inches diameter at the shoulder - 14cms. Brown glass inside then a Grey/white and cased in clear glass. The base has a concave polished out pontil. At first the vase (don't know what to call the shape?) looks like it is made of marble or stone then at close inspection one can see the cased glass. A lovely looking display piece if I can find room to display it.
Does anyone have any idea of maker, age and normal shape description?
I have attached some photos for your perusal - Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any replies to this post.
With best regards

I would say it's Chinese: it's huge for a start, the rim is wonky, the pontil mark is unpolished, and the black interior is typical.

Thanks again Christine - informative as ever - I will go with Chinese maker - I guessed correct in this case. When you say the vase has an unpolished pontil mark do you mean that it is matt in appearance? The vase has a concave ground out (terminology?) mark where the pontil would of been?
Thanks again

Yes, a matte ground pontil mark, not polished and shiny
