Hi. Anyone any ideas about this green cased vase. Found in the North West of England it measures 20 cm tall x 9.5 cm wide x 7 cm deep and weighs almost 1500 gms. Ground out polished pontil. The green is (in my opinion) very similar to Whitefriars Ocean Green but I've spent days searching for Whitefriars Ocean Green with no success so I'm making the assumption it's not by them. I've also tried many many searches for Scandinavian makers with no success. Anyone any ideas or pointers? Much appreciated. Thanks

Some of my Japanese art glass (Sanyu/Narumi) has a similar base finish, but not seen this color or shape on any Japanese art glass.

Thanks - I've not tried Japan yet. I'll start looking down that route. Cheers

I wondered about Caithness possibly as they did produce a lot of these kind of Scandi influence barrel vases. But I'm not sure if the base finish is consistent with them.

Hi. I've been through Japan and yes the bases are similar but I can't find anything in just the plain cased colour. Also with Caithness some of their mid century vases are similar shapes but as said the bases I've seen appear to flat polished.
However I went back to the Whitefriars catalogues for 1966 and found vase 9587 that looks very similar except it's the wrong size - only 5.75 inches whereas this one is just over 7.75 inches (20 cm). Anyone know if they made something similar to 9587 but taller in ocean green?
