Title: Mystery object
Post by: JOK on May 22, 2023, 10:29:52 AM
Wondering if anyone has an idea what this piece of glass is called or might have been used for. 11cm tall, double conical form waisted form with open hole, one end slightly taller than the other at 6cm and 5cm, but diameter is the same at both end 5.5cm. Whether it is a stand for an egg or something, or a medical instrument? there does seem to be wear at one end more than the other. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

;D It does look a bit like a double topped lab filter paper holder.

But I haven't seen a bit of lab glass that looks anything like this. Yet.
When I worked in labs there was a professional glassblower attached to the uni who would mend bits of specialist lab glass - and quite often had to create new bits of equipment designed for some experiment.

Could it be a glass midwife’s stethoscope?
