Title: Hand Painted Opaque Glass Vase With Birds & Floral Decoarations.
Post by: LEGSY on August 15, 2023, 02:51:26 PM
Small vase made from a kind of opaque glass slightly dull to the touch not glossy and has been hand painted
with floral and birds it has a large polished pontil scar on the base of the vase. The rim of the vase has been gold
gilded after being cut & polished on all sides of the rim. I think it might be early 1900's ish. And seems to have something
about it a decent weight too not light weight. I would love to get peoples thoughts on it i am not really at all sure if English
or Continental . Measures 5 3/4"...

"There is also a small bird in a different flying form on the reverse of the vase not shown in pictures."

I've seen similar ones, some marked, which are attributed to Josef Riedel, and I would say Bohemian around 1880-1900. I can see a hint of green around the base, some of these are cased clear uranium glass.
