Title: Art Deco Amber Glass Cake Stand
Post by: Birkyc on September 11, 2023, 03:00:27 PM
Can anyone help to identify maker and origin of this cake stand olease. I have drawn a blank using the resources at my disposal.

27cm in diameter, 5.5cm tall, hefty glass weighing 1.2kg.

Thank you in anticipation.

It looks to be the same as shown in the Hermanova Hut Glassexport before 1958 catalogue, no.19243 ('Art before Industry. 20th Century Pressed Glass' - by Marcus Newhall).

Hi, thanks for the message. The 19423 item is actually oval whereas this is circular, and is also more of a dish than a flat plate. It is also different in respect that the square tops of the similar items in the catalogue are much chunkier, (I have examples of several of these items), and the feet are a different form. I thought it looked like a Hermanova piece but have not been able to track it down in that catalogue. Thank you for the suggestion though.
