Title: Continental wine goblets ?
Post by: bat20 on October 17, 2023, 11:16:58 AM
Hi , I came across these two goblets over the weekend ,they are just over 19.5 cm in height and fairly weighty. There is a cushion knop under the bowl and the lower knop is applied ,there is also a lot of wear on the flat foot (the rims are rounded).I think they could be late 19th century ,but I’m not sure .Any thoughts on these ?,many thanks ….The stems are hollow with a hole in the middle of the foot .

Overshot is the term used over here for this type of glass. Made just about everywhere , mostly from the last quarter 19th century. Probably somewhat earlier as well.
Discussed somewhat in depth concerning a certain pitcher with ice bladder on the board a year ago I think. Continental a good guess, could be English as well. I think most likely not from North America.

I think they're most likely to be Bohemian from Neuwelt. 1860s ish.

Mine has the same stem, foot and base as yours and is also hollow stemmed.
