Title: Stuart Stratford or not ?
Post by: keith on October 27, 2023, 11:03:58 PM
Came across this the other day, 8 inches tall with a large polished pontil mark, looks to me like the Stratford pattern, heavy and well made but can't find it in my Stuart 'files'

Looks like Stuart to me. The flat on the lid finial,  large polished pontil,  Stratford rings, even the way the handles done. Have no proof but it looks right.
Cheers

You might remember that Stratford is a fairly new name for the style.  Page 5 of Catalog #51 (that I think dates to 1938) merely calls it "Plain Ringed Goods in Flint, Green or Gold".  It does not show this design.  However the following page shows a "Dotted Woodchester" (properly called "Ferndale") item #27900 - Juglass.  This looks just like yours but instead of a lid it shows am inverted small tumbler.

Ross.
