Title: Small uranium vase/bowl. Any idea on maker please?
Post by: createdbear on February 16, 2024, 05:48:08 PM
A rather nice little piece (4 inches tall). Glows beautifully under UV light. Do any of the members have an idea as to the maker please? I've trawled the net and have found similar by Greener, but only found one identical piece but with no makers name. I'd be grateful if someone can confirm a maker for me. Thank you.

I owned two of these back in the day [mid 1990s]. Never could find a definite maker. What I remember is the high quality of pressing and very English design wise. I thought 1860s back then and still do. A handsome piece of pressed glass. Scottish?

I've got a 6" version of this and it has similarities to the 687 pattern shown here, enough to make me believe it is a Sowerby piece.

Thank you Cagney and Nev for your help. I've taken a look at 687 in the catalogue and yes, there is a similarity there...small difference but the shape is the smae, the pattern is the same (just a slight difference of course). Looking through the wares of Sowerby on that site, I have to say that they produced some magnificent glass. Thanks again.
