Title: Cranberry drinking glass with annulated knop ?
Post by: bat20 on February 18, 2024, 01:37:11 PM
Hi, I picked this up this morning and was surprised by its generous weight !,it has an annulated knop you’d expect from a much earlier period and a wide polished pontil. It’s leaded and stands 11.5 cm high ,I guess it must be second half of the 19th century?,but it’s styling seems earlier ?,there is good wear along the edge of the foot and some where it lays flat .Any thoughts .

Looks like a nice example of glassworks  conserving expensive gold ruby by plating/blending it with clear flint. Much used in U.S.A., not exclusively. Your dating maybe as good as it gets.
