Title: Polished agate style glass Jug ID help
Post by: Lapimano on February 20, 2024, 10:53:06 AM
Hi,

It's about 20cm high, and 17 cm wide at it's widest point.

Im not sure if this is officialy "agate glass", but it looks similr to polished agate minerals. There is a crudely polished mark on the bottom, also a moderate amount of wear.

I think the photos need to be taken in daylight against a white background.  It's not always possible to see the real colour and markings on glass with a flash or against a dark background.
The colours to me don't look like Empoli glass for some reason.  It reminds me of East European glass perhaps?

Sory about the bad photos, my place is poorly lit (and small), these are daytime photos unfortunately. I can try to make new ones outdoors tomorrow.

I'm also interested if someone can identify the age at least. I'm not even sure if it's 19. or 20. century.

I apologise.  It appeared to me they were taken with a flash perhaps because of the dark wood cabinet affecting the photograph and the white seemingly over powering the other colours.

No problem.
Actually the green parts are very dark, the pattern inside the glass is barely visible without a strong light source. I had to use a flashlight in order for it to be visible. Also barely transparent.
The glass itself is thick, and heavy.
The whole inside is white, but I don't see distinctive layers similar to common cased glass.

New photo, but I'm not sure it's much better.

It looks Chinese or Polish to me. Thickwalled, coursely finished pontil, garish colouration.

Ekimp has it I'm pretty sure.
At least looking at other offerings under that name where the shape and colours are both being sold as by Prokuplje. Or Fabrika Stakla Yugoslavia. Also the designer (?) name of Dragan Drobnjak.
Fantastically interesting and might answer a few queries of other styles.  Ivo do you know anything of them?
I'm still trying to research my face vase and box so anything that comes under Yugoslavia is very helpful (both were sold there).

Another type of colour/shape here but still very similar and with the handle
