I found this decanter in a charity shop today. It is very finely and precisely cut with very thin vertical stripes (4 cuts per stripe; the whole stripe is 7mm wide) and stars between the stripes. The base is star cut. The stopper seems to be the original since it fits very snugly and the base of the stopper is completely flush with the rim of the bottle (it isn't sunk below or raised above the bottle opening). The bottle is 20 cm high; with the stopper is stands 27.5 cm high. The decanter is quite heavy and puts out a high pitched sound when pinged with a finger. Perhaps it is lead crystal. The glass is about 7mm thick at the rim.
To me it's a quality piece. There are no makers marks. I do not know how old this is, but my guess is antique.
Any suggestions for the maker and when made are appreciated. Thanks.

Here is another picture of the top of the bottle. It shows the scoops cut out around the top of the bottle and the horizontal stripe. I should have said that the bottle is 8.5 cm in diameter.
