Hi,
Found this stunning lead crystal glass, champagne coupe I'm thinking. Spectacular cutting virtually every inch of the surface.
The bowl decoration reminds me of chinese willow pattern or similar used on British ceramics, pagoda's, fishing boat, swallows, tree's etc.
The bowl underside, stem and under the foot are all cut with stylised plants, leaves, small diamonds etc.
Approx 13.7cm tall, 9.5cm bowl, 7cm foot.
I can't find any marks so I'm hoping someone can give me a maker and approximate year of manufacture.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Keith

Think this maybe Royal Brierley, I have a few pieces similar to this and I'm sure there is a reference somewhere to work like this made by them, will dig out images of mine.

Hi,
My research seems to be pointing in that direction. The stem looks similar to other S&W examples I've come across online. I've got a feeling that I may have seen the pattern on the bowl somewhere before, in a book maybe.
Thanks for your help,
Keith

On replacements.com they are by an unknown manufacturer: https://www.replacements.com/crystal-unknown-manufacturer-unk16798/c/553756

Hi, just had a look on replacements and that does seem to be the pattern. As I said the stem does seem very similar to other glasses attributed to S&W/Brierly.
Thanks for the help,

These are mine....

Hi, these look like very similar work. Are they marked? Do you know when they were made?
Thanks for posting,
Keith

None marked but I'm sure I saw a piece that was on ebay sometime back that was marked.

Looked at other makers of such rock crystal style cut items.
Thomas Webb and perhaps Webb Corbett both made similar things. Still thinking S&W most likely for this one.
Thanks,
Keith

Hi, found a bowl with what looks like matching pattern. Marked "Royal Brierly England", so it is S&W.
The listing claims 1930s date, any opinions on this would be welcome. Have tried to post a link but I don't know what I'm doing with these things!
Cheers,
Keith

Sure the one I saw was very much like that, well found :)

The sandblasted (the one in the link is not acid etched) Royal Brierley England mark is 1945-50

Thanks, I wonder if the pattern was used either side of the war?
Cheers,
Keith

Good find.

Being pedantic, I think the mark in the eBay link has actually been made by acid etching using a stamp. If it had been made by sand blasting they would have used a stencil, there would be bridges connecting the islands in the centre of letters like the O to the outside.

It's a very coarse finish for acid etching...
