Title: Unsigned Auguste Jean vases
Post by: ElsieJ on July 08, 2024, 04:08:23 PM
From previous threads I understand that there is a lot of suspicion about unsigned Auguste Jean glass. These to me scream Auguste Jean and I can find nothing similar in the Harrach book (From Neuwalt) or anywhere else. Your thoughts?

It would be helpful to see the entire shape of the vases please. Your photograph cuts off the top and bottom so the rim shape and the foot shape can't be seen :)
Also a photograph of the base of them both would be helpful.  Is the rim cut and polished or fire polished?  The base photograph will show whether they have a polished pontil mark or not and if so,how large it is.

It would also be very helpful to see a clear photograph close up of the enamelling.

You’re right. I had trouble resizing the image to 125kb. I’ll try again.

It has no polished pontil mark ( unless the photos I've seen are deceptive), looks to have a cut and polished rim and isn't signed.
Nothing about really stands out to me as being comparative to signed Auguste Jean pieces that I can see on a search but I'm no expert.

Can you confirm please if the rim is cut and polished or firepolished and whether or not it has a polished pontil mark?
