Title: A New Mystery?
Post by: theElench on March 15, 2025, 10:24:28 AM
I don't think it's on GTS ?  If it is I couldn't find it.

The flask with the stopper has been dropped and has a bad chip, is cracked and I don't think the stopper is original as it's too big and doesn't fit well.

But all three look like the same set?

The tray measures 18.5cms x 9.5cms   11 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches.

The atomiser and flask are both 8cms x 8cms   3 1/8 x 3 1/8 inches.

Feel free to use the photos on GTS if I'm right.

And photos of the atomiser.

The finial on the stopper looks very similar to one used by Stolzle on several pieces shown here, but your set isn't shown.

Thank you Nev.

I found the Stolzle pot number 18497 with its similar finial on GTS.

Your catalogue shows the design was used by Stolzle on other pieces but nothing that would need a small stopper.

Could it be the stopper from the missing flask?  Or is it a complete stray, just used because it fitted, (sort of)?

Can we assume from the stopper that Stolzle did make a set with similar finials?

I've added a couple of clearer photos of the finial and for future reference, it measures 5 cms in length.

I'd say the stopper is by Stolzle but it doesn't fit well so is more likely from something else. I don't know of another company who made finials like this.

Looking again at the other Stolzle three piece sets + tray my idea that the stopper might be from a missing flask now looks wrong.  The other sets have a flask with a stopper, a trinket(?) pot, plus either an atomiser or a flask with what looks like a small flat finial?

As my set has the atomiser and the flask with stopper, the missing piece should be a trinket pot with lid, not another flask with a stopper?  I think it then follows that the stopper has nothing to do with the set?

I suppose the only way to know what sort of finial the flask should have is to find a pot with its lid?
