Title: Very interesting Fazzoletto
Post by: chuggy on October 05, 2006, 06:05:33 PM
Got this today and I'll be honest it's a piece I covetted for many years. It was bought in Venice in the 1950's is just under 8" tall and the same across the top. Now for the interesting bit, the glass is at least 3 times as thick as any fazzoletto I've ever come across. It was bought at the same place and time as the bird shown in my other posting in 1958.
Thoughts please, I've my own ideas but would like to see what other think.

Hi Paul,
I have seen some round ashtrays (also very thick) with the same decoration as yours, but I didnt think they were Murano. To see the same desoration on your vase, its confusing, lol, but very interesting.

Paul, may we add this picture to GlassGallery before Tinypic eats it please?

Sure Anne feel free to move it over.
By the way it looks as if this particular example is by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso, when I was over in Murano earlier this year researching for the book, I was shown a bowl with identical colouring which still had its original Aureliano Toso label, supposedly also very rare so I'm hanging on to it.

Brilliant news Paul, congrats!  It's an amazing colour for sure.

I've added the pic to the GlassGallery here as well:
