another selection where I can't decide. All have very high cane/cushions set ups...

views would be appreciated, by better and more experienced eyes and minds than me!!

this last one definitely looks like early vasart - lots of small annealing faults...

I'd say blue ground Strathearn, rest Vasart.

just a note on the basal features,

bottom two have pontil ground out on a wheel, the top two are fire polished.

The feel of the blue ground is 1950's - I know theres no science involved at all! but thats my gut instinct - it's general untidiness suggests that it pre-dates strathearn too - or am I just being greedy!!!!!

Pretty much the same thoughts apply to these weights.

And some Vasart weights were finished with fire polishing, even to the point of producing an apparently fully ground and polished base!

Finishing with rough grinding was more usually a feature of pre-56 items but I wouldn't bet against it being used on some early Strathearn pieces.

Are you assuming that Vasart weights are more valuable than Strathearn? I wouldn't take that view myself.

I try to collect Vasart rather than Strathearn - thats what I meant!!!!!

Your could be right about price though, as good starthearn weights seem to make appreciably more than vasart pieces which always (?) tended towards the trade weight end of the market.

The small collection of Strathearn experimental pieces and possibly one-off pieces that were released on ebay opened my eyes!!!
