Title: Cellophane Bowl (not Monart)
Post by: Andy on October 20, 2006, 12:52:49 PM
Hi all, my first time using the message board, so bear with me. I'm just
looking for confirmation that the attached photos are of a Monart Bowl,
im 99% sure. The glass is thick, weighs 2.5kg, 9 inch diameter, age wear to base, polished pontil. Mottled orange and greens.
Now i will try to add photos. Cheers Andy.

Edit .. having probs with adding photos, will keep trying!

Hi this is the type of glass dubbed "cellophane" glass due to the appearance of the colour. It remains unknown with Czech/Bohemian origins most likely. As it is appearing in increasing quantities I would expect it was made 1930-50's - more examples shown here http://www.ysartglass.com/Ysart/NotYsart.htm
