Title: Fiesta Grantleigh 2-tier comport
Post by: Anne E.B. on October 22, 2006, 03:13:54 PM
David as promised, some pics of a Grantleigh pattern 2-tier comport/cake stand in its original and complete packaging (plates wrapped first in tissue paper then 'bubble' cardboard).  In wonderful condition and doesn't appear to ever have been used.

Apologies for colour quality of comport pic.  Bad light today - will resubmit a better one when conditions are improved.  The actual colours are  really glorious.

Thanks Anne! Oh, you're still 'in' Manchester, BTW :D

I personally think Grantleigh is rather underestimated and it's not terribly common either - you certainly don't see many as cake stands.

I have got that label, but I'm sure this one is slightly different. Blimey, it's all getting very anal when I start analysing the paper inserts

I can tweak the colour balance, so not all that bad, but I reckon the Cornish air is different to Manchester - lack of smog! If you want to send on a higher resolution of the comport, that would be great  :P

Interesting that the label has the option for a 3-tier cakestand as well... has anyone seen any of those at all?  I quite like the Grantleigh pattern, and your cakestand looks super, Anne.

BTW I hadn't realised you were defecting to the south!  :P   Hope the move went well and you're getting sorted out.  :D

3-tier stands: they are not common at all, but you do still see them on occasion. I have a suitable photo of one.

Thanks t'other Anne - it is rather nice :P   This Grantleigh pattern (& colours) reminds me of an Imari bowl I once had.  Wonder if that's where Fiesta Glass drew their inspiration from?

A 'moonlight flit' to the S.W. (well almost - 7am is the middle of the night... almost  )  The move was traumatic .... but that's another story .... a horror one   but everything okay now 8)

This is the same size as before (800x600) but will give me a printed size of 6.75cm x 5cm, so might be alright. Thanks Anne. :P

David - edited previous pic.  New one is clearer and colours look better - hopefully high def. this time.  If its still not okay, will send comport.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful and it's not a problem. Please don't send on the comport - you've been generous enough already. :)
