Hi
Can anyone help me to ID these please. They are quite heavy at the base with a good bit of wear which you may be able to make out hopefully.
Thanks in advance

Hi Kath
Your photos are quite pale and hard to see but I think these might be tumblers designed by Ronald Stennett-Willson for Lemington glass and dating from the early 1960's.

Thanks Pip
thats good news :D

Thanks again Pip,
just a wee nudge in the right direction was all I needed. Now found quite a bit of info about these. There was a very usful thread here last year which helped a great deal too.
There is actually 5 of these but I figured a "set" of four would go better and keep the other odd one for myself as I rather like them. I guess the colour is steel and they seem to have been sold usually in multi coloured "Harlequin" sets.
Great Thanks :)

You're welcome, I'm so glad to have been of help - it doesn't happen often :D

I own quite a few of the RSW one's but I think mine are more rounded than these one's. Unless this is an RSW shape I am not aware of?
I've seen a few of these on ebay, I thought they might be Holmegaard or Polish perhaps?

Now that I look at Ivo's picture, they do seem more angular but I think this is just because of the angle they have been photographed.
How tall are your glasses? Mine are just above 9cm.

Hi Tigerchips
Mmm the plot thickens, mine are about 8 1/2 cms. A Little short perhaps??
Kathryn

Yes, perhaps a little short. Miller's says they are 9cm high. I wish I knew what they were. :(

I played around with the contrast, so not sure if this is more representative:

Kate, you might like to try Irfanview - see this thread:

Hi David
Thanks for taking the trouble to do that, unfortunately though that is really a lot darker than they truely are. They look more blue, when they are more a grey-brown I suppose. Probably not described the colour real well but..they are like the original pic although maybe I made them a shade or two too light. I do already use Irfan view, great program, discovered it a couple of months ago. Handy for my photos which generally come out really dark as lighting seems rather poor here.Until I can invest in super duper lights I fiddle about a bit with them but try to keep the colours as accurate a representation as possible.
Turning into a bit of a puzzler this I was really pleased when I thought they were RSW's but prehaps they are copies as they are a bit short???
I'll try to get around to taking another photo tomorrow and if it comes out any better I post that as well.
I really appreciate all the help though thanks :)

Hi again Kath, yes I'd be interested to find out for sure what these are - they're so similar to the RSW ones but as Tigerchips pointed out they're a tiny bit angular in shape compared to the photo in the other thread ... I've had a look in all my books and haven't found anything remotely similar (other than the Lemington ones I originally suggested). Sorry to have got your hopes up :-( - I'm sure someone else will be along with another suggestion though.

Hi Pip
No worries, my hopes are always up!! You never know they may be RSW's after all, its just the hieght thing, but I think they are cool what ever they turn out to be :)
