I am interested in learning more about this paperweight.
Thank you .... Lily

Hi Lily
I am not an expert on Baccarat but the etched logo is not like any Baccarat etching I have seen - the normal etching is as shown in attached photo of a weight I sold last year. http://i11.tinypic.com/2yjrfcx.jpg
The weight you refer to other than the etching appears to be Bohemain - trumpet flowers, flowerpot base and the style of factting are all typical of Bohemian weights from the 1920's - 1930's.
What do the experts say ??
Regards
Derek

The paeprweight is very much like classic turn-of-the-century (the 19th to the 20th) paperweights from Bohemia-Silesia - or in contemporary terms Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic).
It is not Baccarat. The signature stamp or die or etching is a fake.

I have weights very similar, without that signature tho - which I'm pretty sure is a fake, apart from the glass itself being wrong for B the style, faceting etc points to Bohemian ca 1980's.
The earlier Bohemian weights
I have seen had much clearer glass and the faceting was very good,
with smaller facets, the newer ones seem to have bigger and fewer facets.
The borehole alone should sink any thought of Baccarat no?
I bought 5 similar weights on an auction for about 120 USD including buyers fee which i now feel was a bit too much.

My thoughts have been echoed in your replies regarding this weight and I have learned more as well. :)
Thank you, one and all .... Lily

Is there something we're missing - this one is up to £92 at the moment!?
The flowerpot, the glass, the faceting, the rough base, and the weird borehole signature - nothing matches any Baccarat I've seen?
Also a bit surprised the seller hasn't added any caveats after Frank sent a link to this discussion.

I've run across sellers like that before. They thank me kindly for my information but do not modify their listing.
I hope the high bidder just wants the weight and not because it's supposedly Baccarat.
