Title: Huge punch bowl, deco? victorian?
Post by: Gill on November 03, 2006, 06:27:22 PM
Couldn't resist this splendid bowl, Lord knows what I'll do with it! Measures a stonking 34cms across the rim and is 14 cms high. Very heavy, weighs 2.8kg and has a ding that goes on forever if you give it a flick. Moulded in four parts. Really catches the light, especially the lens bits. I thought it was deco but lady in charity shop thought more Victorian.  This brought me back to a question that's bugged me for some time, how do you tell the difference? Some people seem very confident in this area but I don't know how to tell when there's no mark and I don't recognise the design.  I find this particularly difficult with pressed glass cake stands.  Any handy hints much appreciated.  Anyway, I
digress......here's the bowl!
