I picked these up at a fleamarket, $9 for both :)
Nason Blocks (http://www.wilhelmsen.no/glass/v.nason.co.01.JPG)
When I got home I realised they were both signed V Nason in addition to the sticker.
I haven't been able to date these. I found the website some time ago but can't seem to re-find it for some reason
Can anyone point me in the right direction, age and website?
Thanks
Alexander

Hi Alexander,
Tricky question that one.
Maybe if you read this thread (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,3882.0.html) you will see what I mean. :)
-
I've never seen anything like that before from V.Nason - what a find! And I collect V.Nason
Hey, I wonder if they're supposed to be huge Monopoly houses/hotels! :D
-
I see what you mean
From the thread I assume they're from the 80/90'ies.
I was a bit surprised that they had a v nason signature engraved tho.
Only noticed it as I was washing them.
Thanks for the pointer :D
Edit : I like the monopoly house theory, the sure do look like them, color and all :D
I thought they were quite unusual for murano glass, big chunks with no finery so to speak, I like them tho :D

I have noticed a signature on larger items, so perhaps that's what they confine it to. I don't think any of the mould-blown black/aventurine vases have sigs though but I always suspected these were much earlier.
How large are these, Alexander?
-
Not very large at all, the green one is 6cm tall and 5,5cm by 4cm .
The red one is sqare at the base 9cm tall and 5 by 5.
Here is a picture of the signature, apologies for the quality, snapped
them just now with my cellphone.

This is a 3.5" tall light blue glass house, the bottom has slight conclave, very clear and crisp blue color.
-
This is my favorite for some reason, anyone know anything about it? It's got great color!
-
I'm idly wondering if it's a deck prism / pavement light block thingie rather than a wee house? Perhaps Ian can help, I'll ask him to look in.
-
I would appreciate any help! I'm not too sure what a deck prism or pavement light is...but what ever it is I love looking at this piece!
-
Nope, not a vault light. No ridges for gripping mortar, wrong color, and the angle at the top wouldn't work well. Looks like a nice piece of decorative glass to me. I like it: simple, iconic...
-
Thanks for the help Ian! I don't know why I get such a kick out of this piece it is very simple, but yet the weight and color are very appealing to me....all in the eye of the beholder....but being in Florida it helps keep me cool just looking at it!
-
Thanks Ian... it was just an idle thought! :t: Gorgeous colour though! :sun:
-
This looks very similar, except it is clear glass, and appears to be American.....have a look:

YES! That's it! Wow you are the BEST! Thank you so much!
-
Glad you are happy....did you see it came in 4 sizes.....?
I love doing this....should have beed a detective!
-
Yes you should of...you still can be! A detective of glass! :hiclp: I really like Miyuki Shinkai other art too! Very talented, and seems so humble. I loved it before I knew anything about it...love it even more now...thanks so much Rosie!

Hi, I have nearly the complete set of these now, including cars and boats!! They are delightful and I call them my 'jellies' as that is what they look like to me!!
I will post some pics soon as it is a bit late tonight. :)
-
Some Pics as promised.....

A few more:
With the benefit of hindsight and more knowledge of glass, I think the information given in this posting:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,39443.10.html
where I found a little blue glass house was probably not by the maker mentioned, but was almost certainly one of these little houses, as it is the same colour as the blue one and the same dimensions as the clear glass one. I can't be certain, because I never saw the actual piece and could only go by the write up on the page, but my gut feeling tells me that the signature was most likely V Nason and not Miyuki Shinkai. :(
-
VERY Nice collection there!!!! You have done Well
;)
-
Thank you Rose.... they are hard to come by... but I have another one on the way!! It seems that there is one of each pattern in each colour, so I have a few more to go!! :)
-
Just an update here....
The reference given earlier was the name of the blogger, not the name of the maker of the glss house.
I have now discovered that it was made by V.Nason & Cie.
I liked it so much I decided to get one, and one thing led to another>>>> I now have a whole collection of them, I call them my Jellies!
-
I have now updated the thread:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,39443.new.html#new Mod: merged into this one
So maybe these two could be / should be merged?? :)
-
Done as suggested and subject line changed to show V Nason & Cie as maker, and moved merged topic to Murano. Thanks Rosie, and what a great collection you have now!
