Title: Orrefors Lundin Vase and signed unknown vase
Post by: bigdog on December 01, 2006, 02:50:11 PM
Can anyone give me more info on these two pieces?

First is this 11" Orrefors vase, it is signed Orrefors DU 3343.  From what I have learned the D stands for Ingeborg Lundin, the U for handmade or uncut.  Can anyone confirm this info or give me more?

Next is this signed vase.  It is 6 1/4" tall.  I cannot figure out who made it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Looking at Lundin pieces for sale, her pieces seem to be priced very high on the Orrefors scale.  I have been unable to find any pieces like this for sale, but have seen a 1951 catalog reprint in Vigier & Pina's "Smoke and Ice." with a piece similar in optic pattern by Lundin.

I know people don't like to give values to pieces, but some for sale by her are in the thousands of dollars.  Anyone like to give me a guess at the value?

Just a guess
I could imagine

G Munch
789 2.95 (Feb. 1895 ??)

historismus - the motif looks pre 1900

google and wikipedia - no success - there is only Edvard Munch the painter and some squirrel feeding munch glass

Your 2nd piece is by the Kjellander family.

I have a perfume bottle decorated by them.

This link won't be active long so I will add the short history from my description here

The Kjellander family has been doing copper engraving since the 18th century in Sweden. One of the Kjellander brothers - Lars Kjellander was an engraver at Kosta from 1881-1925 and was also at Orrefors. His brothers remained and ran the family business which closed in recent years.

Hi bigdog,
i had this identical vase! sold it on ebay about a year ago, dont think i
got a fortune about £40 , although i think mine was a little smaller,
maybe 9" tall, but my memory is hazy and could be same one!
i deleted any photos i had ages ago.
Nice vase though!
Cheers Andy
