Title: Help Identifying 3 Green Glass Vases
Post by: Ambergreen on January 28, 2007, 09:34:11 AM
Yes, here I am again. I was hoping someone could confirm two vases that I have and hopefully identify another.

1. This vase stands approx 20.5cm in height and has a scalloped 'shell' design around the rim. I have seen many of these in AUS and am currently assuming that this is a Crown Glass vase. Confirmation on this would be greatly appreciated.

2.  This vase stands approx. 22cm in height. Is frosted green glass of which I think could be Bagley. Again, if anyone can confirm this for me I would appreciate it :D

3. Last but not least, this little vase stands approx. 10.5cm in height. Again it is a design that I have seen quite a bit in AUS but I have no idea of the pattern/maker.  I'm hoping someone out there might recognise this.

Thanks so much everyone for your help - you're incredible in your knowledge :)

1 & 3 are Crown Crystal. 2 will need someone else - it's very familiar but I can't find it off hand.
Cheers.

Good luck with no. 2  ;D  I have the same vase in a clear, non-uranium green which I have been trying to identify for over 6 years.  I call it my mystery vase.  I have posted it on here before and no one could identify it.  Maybe with the new members we will finally get an id.

Thanks again Cathy! You're a star :D
Hmm .. #2 is going to be the tricky one, eh?  Well here's hoping someone might recognise it. Might have a trawl through some of these new sites I've been given  ;)

Cheers,
Lyn

I've owned quite a few of these in the past in various colours and sizes.  As a matter of interest, the look, colour and the 'feel' of the glass is almost exactly the same as identified Davidson pieces (bowls) - I always suspected they might be Davidson or at least English (which doesn't really narrow it down).

Hi,
Number 2 is definitely not Bagley.
Somewhere in the past I identified it as Davidson. But I don't have my books with me so I can't check. It think its in a Davidson's pattern book.

I've now found I have two vases in this pattern, but in clear glass. It's not in Davidson Glass, a history, by Chris and Val Stewart, so I'm wondering if anyone can confirm Angela's suggestion of Davidson, please, or if not Davidson, any other ideas?

It has an almost Inwald feel, doesn't it? Have you plugged the dimensions into Marcus' database?

By the way, kick me for not offering more info on vases 1. and 3.

1. is from the Eighty-Two Series, and at 8" is #8280, also known as Shell Panels by collectors.
3. is... there somewhere. Have to go now and will find it later.

Yep, it does Cathy. I thought Czech when I first saw them, but Marcus doesn't recognise the pattern, and I've not found it in any of Pamela's pics or catalogues yet... shall keep looking! ;)

Kick me again. It looks like it might be related to Heavy Vine, a.k.a. Balmoral, without the vine pattern. Illustrated on Glen's site (http://www.geocities.com/carni_glass_uk_2000/KingJames.html). That would explain that band at the top. Unknown maker.

Ooooh Cathy, that looks like the same vase but my two clear ones and ambergreen's green one don't have the vine pattern.

Yes, but possibly related?
