Trying to sort things out here at present and wondered if anyone can help me ID these pressed glass jugs. I've had them over 20 years and I'm pretty sure they are pre-war. They stand 8.5 inches high, but I've no idea at all where they may originate from so all help appreciated.

Paul - these remind me of an eBay auction Max posted about - my brain's a little embroille ;) today so I can't remember what the thread was called but it was a big glass owl thingummy like yours. Hopefully Max will be around to point you in the right direction (where is she btw????)

I was thinking that Pip, i thought about emailing Anne, but thought that would look like being nosey, i hope Max is o.k :-\

I think that this is the thread that Pip is referring to: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,8070.0.html
I don't have a clue though Paul, sorry. ???

Yep that's the one Della (super sleuth) - is it nothing like Paul's jug though? Oh well ... I knew it was an owl at least! Sue, I'll email Max and see if she's OK - she's probably doing something arty and interesting ;)

Just back from Paris and working on her paintings.

Yep! Inundated with art stuff to do (sorry for using your thread Paul). Just spent a week in Paris and don't know where to start on everything...making headway though! :D
Hopefully after a few solid days on it, I'll be back in the world of the living! :P

What do we think for selling them individually to appeal to owl and cat collectors or keep them togther? They've got to go as I'm trying to work out what I'm going to take to Crete.

Sorry about the little diversion Paul. Personally, if I were selling them I'd split them up and sell separately making sure I listed them in a category to highlight the owl/cat theme as well as in date-lined glass.
-
Yes sell them seperately on the same day and cross reference to each other
-
Sell them together, if you can find the pea-green tray that goes with the set.
-
Sell them separately, cross reference and you can give a small discount if the same bidder wins both.
-
Gone with the consensus and listed them seperately, but still no ideas where they might have been made.

This is probably a completely red herring, as I haven't seen anything like them before. However, something about the way the top rim is finished makes me think of early Czech glass... ???
Ah well, it's a bit of a stab in the dark. :)

Owl and the Pussycat was published in 1938 so if earlier than that the symbology is unrelated.
