I am considering buying this item on ebay which is from Per Lutken's "Abstraction" series. 170075609677
Problem is I haven't seen this particular form before and I don't think the upper end looks "right". I would have expected it to run through to clear and I'm worried it's been broken. The seller thinks it's where it was cut off at the factory but my instinct says otherwise. It's only down the road so if it was 100% OK I would have a bid.
If anyone has got one and can advise me I'd be grateful for the help.

I was considering this, but had come to the same conclusion that the tip was broken off. I've never seen any with 'cut' tips before. If it was a factory second the base would have been marked with 'PS' rather than a full signature, so any iffyness is post-manufacture.
Still, if you wanted to bid then let me me know and I'll stay clear of it (if you could kindly provide a decent photograph and some measurements of it for my Holmegaard project after it became yours I would be very grateful). Otherwise I'll probably chance my arm on it for the sake of illustration and then bung it back on eBay.

PS: I've always known this range as "Flamingo", never heard it called Abstraction before. Where did you get the name from? I can't remember how I came across Flamingo, so I may be wrong on this.

Name from "Fire & Sea" page 146/147 - but this particular form isn't shown so it might be from a similar series...........but it really does look like the ones on page 146.
I used to buy things which were not 100% just to have an example, but I'm not going to bid on this as I am trying to stick to perfect pieces now.
If we've both thought the same I'm happy to let it go. Wish there was a way we could all avoid bidding against each other but I guess that could smack a bit of a cartel!

I know that there's a vase with the same style/colouring, but with a totally different form, called 'Bison' - so possibly the range itself was called Abstraction, and the individual shapes are called Flamingo, Bison, etc...?
Just a guess.

Ah, went above my limit - my wallet was going to stetch to £25 (anything more for just taking a photograph of it is a bit over the top).

Too late I'm afraid, but the same design, with the same cut off end, is shown in 20th Century Factory Glass (pg 88 my copy). I don't think it's the same actual piece though (more clear in the book).

I reckon that this is a very good book, I always recommend it (and "Orrefors - a century of Swedish Glassmaking" for the markings) - but then it was one of my first so maybe I'm a little biased.
