Title: Walther Buckeburg Bowl
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on February 12, 2007, 08:31:47 PM
I found this Walther set today, having looked through the Walther section on the Pressglas site I found a bowl with the same pattern called Buckeberg, but in a different shape bowl, does the name refer to the pattern or the bowl or both

Hi Roy, unfortunately your photo of the lady has cut of her head... who she is please?
Yes, I would judge it a Walther Bueckeberg bowl - colour and shape lead to 60ieth production of then VEB Sachsenglas

Pamela, am I right in thinking you are saying this to be 1960s VEB Sachsenglas production?
If so, I would be interested to know which particular aspects of the shape and colour show it to be so. I am never quite sure of the age of such pieces and any information you could share would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Steven

Dear Steven,
age- and colourwise I could think of a marriage really!
It is ALL Walther glass.
I do not dare to age the age of Lukretia and her frog - (pink?) may be pre-war
BUT: Buckeberg bowl in this shape and satin finish and a light amber is absolutely Walther VEB Sachsenglas export item to UK during the early Sixties.
Sorry Steven, this was not a  la mode HERE during the thirties and forties, when we laid down in war. And it was not exported to Western Germany as you may think. Sorry to be of not more help, but I do very much appreciate to look at these items - helps me a lot further in my investigations, really! Thanks a lot!  :)
