Topic: Old thorn vase - maker or country of origin please

Another boot sale bargain is this old thorn vase. Sorry the thorns have not shown up too well in the photos.

The enamelling looks quite fine in close up.

 I am wondering if anyone can help me to guess at the maker, or at least the country of origin, and an approximate date would be great too - thanks

The body of your vase looks very similar to a vase I have recently tried to ID. With a little work, I guessed that mine was 1930s Czech, possibly Kralik, but I did not know for sure. I would also like to read some ideas on your vase.

I had Bohemia in mind, but I had guessed at slightly earlier than the 1930's so that is an advance  

The annoying thing is I am sure I have seen something similar on a website recently, but can't find it again - maybe I look at too many websites!

Could you post some pictures of your vase for comparison purposes perhaps?

I think you are right, there is a distinct resemblance in the glass colour and marbling and in the style of the enamelling.  Now all we need to do is find out more about both of them
