« on: April 29, 2009, 01:34:22 PM »
Does any body know if the British heart foundation commissioned any body to make a copy of the Whitefriars coffin vase for there shops, and if so whats the difference confused please don't just say quality because i have never seen an original. Or did any glass producers in the past make copy's of the coffin vase. Thanks in anticipation yours Mark

The British Heart Foundation certainly sold/still sells modern textured vases that often get mistaken (usually on eBay) for Whitefriars production although none that I've seen so far that have been in any recognised WF shapes or colours - definitely not copies of WF but possibly inspired by.  Can you show us a photo of the vase you're referring to please?

It's probably also a good idea that you join www.whitefriars.com and read through the site - including the catalogues - and acquaint yourself with the shapes, sizes, colours and individualities of WF production if it's an area you're interested in.

When the textured vases were on sale in BHF I didn't see one which resembled the coffin vase at all.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

To be quite honest Pip i saw said vase in a bhf shop on display in a corner unit £2 usually i collect pressed glass and am not very well versed on this type of glass. So firstly the price put me of seeming cheap and then vaguely remember something about bhf doing similar stuff, plus i had no cash or cards on me. I will be waiting for them to open at 9 tomorrow and if purchase will upload photos by the way the colour looking at the whitefriars site is Meadow Green  height is 5" weight is 530g cased in clear crystal and as a flat polished base with an oval ripple effect seems to tick all these boxes any way will let you know cheers Mark
