Please Help! Any Ideas?
« on: May 20, 2009, 11:33:42 PM »
Hi forum!

I found this small vase in a charity shop and wondered if anybody could tell me anything at all about it. It is a very thin-walled, very delicate glass vase with some iridescence on the stalk part and under the flower and again on the underside but not on the bulbous part - this seems to be covered only in a rough, almost sand like material. The underside has a indentation, rather like that found underneath a champagne bottle. The flower part has a smooth upper surface and a pink and gold / orange hue, the underside is green and pink and the stripes seem to be a spiral rather than circles (this can be sen best in the picture of the vase from above).  Can anybody tell me where it may have come from, the technique and materials used to make it and its age? Any further information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Catherine
