Your Miniature Vase
« Reply #1 on: March 26, 2004, 05:19:14 PM »
Hi Tony,

Your Miniature Vase is actually a Peek-A-Boo Toothpick Holder.  The original was made by the McKee Glass Co., c. 1904.  It books for $65 in clear.  The toothpick has, however, been reproduced by several other companies.  Can't tell from your pic, but the originals are much more detailed in the faces.  Hope this helps.

Help with ID vase
« Reply #2 on: March 26, 2004, 07:59:06 PM »
Hi Pops
I did not think of a toothpick holder, I did a search on the net and found one in blue on ebay, this gave more info, this one made after 1940 has a cupped and stippled base, the original is divided into 8 small panals and has a hole in the center, which goes up the stem for about half an inch, mine has the hole in center and as it is for Auckland Exhibiton 1913-14 I feel sure it is an original.
Many thanks for your help.

I've got a pressed glass perfume bottle with a little cherub on it who looks very like the little fellows on this toothpick holder!

Could it possibly be McKee Glass Co. as well?  I know nothing about the company - never heard of it before!  :?

Shall I post a pic here, or start a new topic?
